A self-hosted Confluence alternative in your own cloud.
Spaces, a page tree, real-time co-editing, comments, templates and version history, installed in your own cloud next to the chat and issues your docs refer to.
Your wiki holds the things you can't lose
Runbooks, architecture decisions, customer notes and policies live in the wiki. Many teams ran Confluence Server precisely so this stayed on their own infrastructure.
With Server support ended in February 2024 and Data Center reaching end of life in March 2029 (the dates are on the Jira alternative page), those teams now choose between a vendor's cloud and a wiki they can still host themselves. Kernyl is built for the second.
Kernyl Docs organizes work into spaces with a page tree you rearrange by dragging. People edit together in real time, discuss in page comments and restore any earlier version. Pages link to each other with [[, mention people with @, and show issues with their live status.

A Confluence importer is planned
It comes after the Slack importer, which is in development now. Until then, teams can start new spaces in Kernyl while Confluence stays available for reference. Tell us which spaces matter most so we can plan the import with you.
We're onboarding our first teams now. Design partners get hands-on help with the install, a direct line to the people building Kernyl, and a say in what we build next.
FAQ
Is Confluence Server still supported?
No. Atlassian ended support for Server products, including Confluence Server, on February 15, 2024. Data Center remains available to existing customers until its end of life on March 28, 2029.
Can we import our Confluence spaces?
A Confluence importer is planned. The Slack importer is in development now and comes first. Tell us what you need to bring across and we'll share timing.
Can several people edit the same page at once?
Yes. Docs uses real-time co-editing, so everyone on a page sees changes as they're typed, and every version is kept in the page history.
What isn't in Kernyl Docs yet?
Inline comments on selected text, page-level restrictions on top of space roles, PDF export and a version diff view are on the roadmap. Page comments and version restore are available today.
