Privacy policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
This policy explains what personal data [Company legal name] ("Kernyl", "we", "us") collects through this website, when you book a demo or buy a subscription, and from Kernyl installations, and how we use it. We are the controller of that data. Contact details are at the end of this page.
The short version
- Kernyl runs in our customers' own cloud accounts. We never receive the messages, issues, documents or files stored in it.
- We collect only what we need to run this website, hold demos, bill customers and license the software.
- We do not sell personal data, and this site uses no advertising or analytics trackers.
Data inside customer installations
Each customer installs Kernyl in its own cloud account. The content and user details stored there are controlled by that customer, who is the controller for it. We do not have access to it. If you use Kernyl at work and have a question about your data, contact the organization that runs your workspace.
What we collect
- Demo bookings. When you book a demo, Cal.com collects your name, email address, the time you pick and any notes you add, and creates a calendar event for us. We use this to hold the demo and follow up with you.
- Emails. If you email us, we keep your message and contact details to reply and keep a record of the conversation.
- Customers and billing. When you buy a subscription we collect your organization's name, billing contact and address, tax details and purchase history. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we do not see or store full card numbers.
- Licence check-ins. Each installation periodically sends the software version, a health status and counts of active and named users. Check-ins contain no content and no names or email addresses of users.
- Website requests. Our hosting provider processes standard request data (IP address, browser and pages requested) to deliver and secure the site.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide the subscription, licence, support and billing you asked for (performance of a contract).
- To answer your questions and hold demos you book (your request, and our legitimate interest in replying).
- To keep the website and licensing service secure and working, and to prevent fraud (legitimate interests).
- To keep financial and tax records (legal obligation).
Service providers
We share personal data only with providers that process it for us under contract:
- Vercel: hosts this website.
- Cal.com: demo scheduling.
- Google Workspace: our email and calendar.
- Stripe: payments and invoicing.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to a buyer if our business is sold, under the same protections described here.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Demo bookings and email conversations: up to 24 months after our last contact, unless you become a customer.
- Customer and billing records: for the length of the subscription and as long as tax law requires afterwards.
- Licence check-ins: for the length of the subscription and up to 12 months after it ends.
- Website request logs: as long as our hosting provider keeps them, typically a few days to weeks.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. The demo booking calendar on the Book a demo page is provided by Cal.com, which may set cookies needed for booking.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the EU and UK GDPR and the UAE personal data protection law, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Email [contact email] to use these rights; we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
We protect personal data with appropriate technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit and access limited to people who need it.
Children
Kernyl is a business product and this site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. Material changes will be highlighted here.
